Lytham St. Annes Photographic Society

On Monday 15th October, club members were invited to photograph Marton Operatic Society’s dress rehearsal of The Pirates Of Penzance which is being staged at the Lowther Pavilion in Lytham.  This was an excellent opportunity to practice some photography under the difficult conditions of stage lighting which present exposure and colour problems.  Plus we got to enjoy the performance for

The 2018 L&CPU Novice Cup competition was held on 14th October at the L&CPU Big Day event.  This competition is only open to Club Members who have no accreditation (eg BPE, PAGB awards), and is intended to encourage club members to participate in competitions external to their own club. The overall competition was won by Stalybridge with an impressive score

The LSAPS 70th Anniversary Dinner was held at the Glendower Hotel on 12th October, attended by a number of club members and guests.  Also present was Ian Aldcroft, President of the L&CPU who handed out trophies and awards from the Season and Photoshow competitions.  Many thanks to Ian for performing this function. The annual Photoshow held by the club has now closed.  It was another successful exhibition with over 500 print and digital images on display  and over 800 people visiting across the two weeks. The Awarded images from the judging are now available to view at our Photoshow page, but the public also cast their votes, with 651 votes cast for 201

The final competition of the year was the Pesident’s Challenge, held on 31st May.  For the challenge, all images must be processed In-Camera, with editing restricted to cropping and sizing.  This year the subject was Red, White and Blue. Voting was performed on the night by the club members, and the winning image was Carol Watson’s ‘In the Style of

Duelling Scar by Ken Ainscow The results from the 2018 L&CPU Individual Competition are now available, and LSAPS scored some notable successes. In the Print section, Ken Ainscow scored 1st place in Mono with Duelling Scare, and 2nd place in colour with his Shire Horse Judges.  Carol Watson also received a Commended Award for Out Of The Mist.  LSAPS Members

The Studio Lighting Workshop was held on the morning of Saturday 19th May.  This gave an opportunity for members to try out some of the club’s lighting equipment and to pick up a few tips from more experienced club members.  We were pleased to welcome Owen, who modelled very convincingly in WW1 uniform and also brought along a range of

The Hawks And Owls Photoshoot took place on Saturday 5th May, and fortunately we were blessed with fine weather.  16 LSAPS photographers turned up to photograph a collection of birds provided by Lancashire Hawks and Owls.
