3rd Open PDI Competition
The 3rd Open PDI competition was held on Thursday 15th March, judged by Jeremy Malley-Smith (DPAGB, BPE2*, LRPS) from Blackburn and District Camera Club.
The featured image for the 3rd Open PDI Competition is John Rylands Reading Room by Gordon Watson, which scored 20 points in the Intermediate group.
“This image of the Reading Room at John Rylands Library in Manchester had to be taken hand held as tripods are not allowed in the library on public days. A wide angle lens with maximum aperture of F2.8 was used at ISO 400 and 1/25th second – about the slowest useable shutter speed. In post processing, several people had to be cloned out and the verticals straightened in Photoshop. The far window was over-exposed, so I took a second under-exposed image and cut the window from that. Final contrast adjustments were made using Nik Tools.”
